Hypercity Argos - Catlogue Retailing in India
Saturday, August 18, 2007
The Raheja group promoted Hypercity Argos retail for the first time is planning catalog based retailing in India. They have a single store in Mumbai but managed at world class standards. The catlogue concept is to be initially launched for consumers in Thane. Mr. Andrew Levermore of Hypercity Retail said,
The prices charged for the goods supplied from Hypercity Argos catalogues will be similar to that of Hypercity, as there is going to be 100% overlap of products present in the existing Hypercity in Mumbai. The idea behind launching catalog retailing is to quickly reach as many consumers as possible served through different distribution centers. The company has already distributed 100,000 catlogues in Thane which has 5,000 products listed and consumers can simply pick up the phone and order the merchandise.
I have personally never liked to order anything from catalog, except Books and Music. Since this is just the beginning of retail revolution in India, consumers would actually like to goto mall and enjoy the shopping experience.

hi, as an ex pat brit in mumbai, this is a short sighted view, shopping like this in the uk works very well, Argos is often the place that one goes to first to find the most competitive price, and online shopping with home delivery saves a lot of valuable time . time will tell eh?
I don't completely agree with your comment of "who wants to shop from a catalog". I just saw the Hypercity Argos Catalog in question and the prices in it are great! Its very well put together and in my opinion is great value for money for the end consumer. The range and choice is well thought out.
I found this site from a google after hearing a radio advert for hypercity argos this morning. I think that the people of mumbai will find this all very exciting now that there is a wider awareness value and price is what counts!. Good luck to them,
hi

Catalogue selling in India for everyday items makes good sense. minimum real estate costs, minimum retail store costs, 100% effective cost of sale.
Top class provide technology.
Good luck to them .
